Bugsy’s Pizza Restaurant
111 King Street
Open since 1998, this Alexandria establishment is often compared to the famous TV bar “Cheers.” Enjoy the big game in Bugsy’s upper level sports bar. From Monday – Friday, you can enjoy their $5 lunch special or Happy Hour from 4-7pm with “college priced” beer and wine and $5 appetizers. Bugsy’s was founded by former Washington Capitals’ hockey player Bryan “Bugsy” Watson.
Myron Mixon’s Pitmaster Barbeque
220 N. Lee Street
The new kid in town, Myron Mixon, recently opened Myron Mixon’s Pitmaster Barbeque in what used to be Overwood in Old Town Alexandria. Mixon, a four-time World Barbecue Champion, and cookbook author, brings a taste of the South to Old Town. While not a sports bar per se, you can watch your games in the bar area and enjoy Southern specialties like as pimento cheese and Ritz crackers, a pork belly BLT, collard greens, and barbeque deviled eggs (in addition to its array of smoked meat options).
Joe Theismann’s Restaurant
1800A Diagonal Road
Founded by the former Commanders’ quarterback in 1975, Joe Theismann’s Restaurant is a casual neighborhood spot that is a step above your typical sports bar. Its loyal clientele of local workers, neighbors, and the occasional celebrity is complemented by Alexandria’s tourists. Theismann’s 40-seat bar and vast TV collection will delight any sports fan, as will its upscale pub fare happy hour (Baked Pretzel Loaves with beer cheese or Lollipop Lamb Chops, anyone?) This is certainly one of the most well-known sports bars in Alexandria. Theismann’s also underwent major upgrades in the summer of 2019.
Southside 815
815 South Washington Street
Located at 815 South Washington Street (hence the name), Southside 815 is a favorite sports bar for those in the Southeast quadrant of Old Town Alexandria. You can take in NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB packages on Southside’s 13 TVs. Hit Happy hour every Monday-Friday from 4:00-7 p.m. Happy Hour specials include $8 burgers, mini pulled pork nachos, and fried shrimp/oyster bowls, as well as drink specials.
TJ Stone’s Grill House and Tap Room
608 Montgomery Street
TJ Stone’s Tap Room offers many HD flat screen TVs with all of the major sports packages. Watch all of your games in surround-sound while trying a live cask beer brewed specially for T.J. Stone’s or a great bottle from their collection of 200 local, seasonal, and international beers or vast wine collection. Monthly food and drink specials are also offered. The Tap Room’s Happy Hour is every weekday from 4-7pm. Be sure to try the Smoked Gouda Tater Tots!
Sports Bars in Alexandria – Outside of Old Town
Ramparts Tavern
1700 Fern Street
Tucked away in the Fairlington Shopping Center, this 30+-year-old neighborhood gem caters to the dedicated sports fan! You can watch all of your sports on one of its 30 HD TVs with surround sound, while enjoying Ramparts’ signature CAPS Game Time Specials: the $4 Ovi Bom (orange vodka bomb with sweet & sour mix and grenadine) or the $4 Rockin’ Red (cherry vodka, ginger ale, cranberry juice, pineapple juice and grenadine). Enjoy 69 cent wings on Wednesdays and ½ price wine bottles on Saturdays.
Shooter McGee’s
5239 Duke Street
Offering a casual neighborhood vibe in the Landmark area of Alexandria, Shooter McGee’s is a fantastic sports bar for local sports fans. Its 10 HD flat screen TVs at the bar offer all of the major sports packages. The beer offerings are amazing – everything from gluten-free beer to Belgian ales. Enjoy Shooter McGee’s new Sunday Taco Night and large outside patio dining in the warmer months.
Top Golf
6400 Clipper Way Oxon Hill, MD
After checking out Top Golf’s high tech driving range (with covered bays) or mini golf courses, stop by its indoor bar (there’s also an outdoor patio) where you can grab a bite and catch up on your sports. Enjoy beer, wine and traditional pub fare with a twist, like craft beer queso or brisket grilled cheese.
DRP Belle Haven
1401 Belle Haven Road
This extension of Del Ray Pizza brings a much-needed gathering spot to the neighborhoods just south of Old Town. Patrons can gather at the bar to take in the game. DRP Belle Haven offers a fabulous drink menu which you can see here (we are personally intrigued by the “Sazerock My World” cocktail with smoked bacon fat infused bourbon). Interestingly, DRP Belle Haven has a 1,000 square foot garden on site, which provides more than 60% of its salad ingredients.
