It’s getting hot outside!! While I am typically exclusively a Fla-Vor-Ice kind of girl when it comes to popsicles, I thought it would be fun for my kids to try making their own. Added bonus, it tricks them into eating some fruit for dessert or think that I’m a really cool mom for letting them have “popsicles” for breakfast like we did today.
So, if you’re looking to make your own healthy popsicles, here’s how. It’s really easy!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 2 cups of frozen strawberries, thawed.
- 1/4 cup of apple juice
- 2 tablespoons of honey.
- 1/2 a lemon, juiced.
- 1 pinch of salt.
- Popsicle molds or 3 oz plastic cups.
Here’s what to do:
- Combine ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
- Pour into pop molds or 3 oz plastic cups.
- Place in freezer for at least 5 hours or overnight.
We happened to have mixed frozen berries in the freezer so use those instead of only strawberries. Just use whatever fruit you like best!
I also used the 3 oz plastic cups with a group of four wood toothpicks as the popsicle stick. It worked fine, but I ended up just putting the popsicles in bowls to make them easier for my kids to eat. I also have popsicle molds on order for next time!
If you have other great recipes for popsicles, we would love to hear them!
