TideLock Mixed-Used Development in North Old Town

March 24, 2024 | Inside Alexandria | By: The Goodhart Group

TideLock at 1033 N. Fairfax St is set to open in 2026 in North Old Town. Community Three and Whitaker Investment have secured a $96 million construction loan to move forward on a new mixed-use building with apartments, condos, and retail in the Old Town North neighborhood.

Built in 1983, the three existing 1980s-era office buildings that were formerly home to the American Physical Therapy Association will become a mixed-use development with 169 residential rental apartments, 65 luxury condominiums, and about 6,500 square feet of retail and 5,000 square feet of arts space which will be home to Levine Music. TideLock will also offer a number of affordable apartments and condominiums. The development will also feature a public pedestrian promenade leading to TideLock park, public art installations, and an historical interpretive display. The project will focus on sustainability by re-purposing the office buildings and it will qualify for LEED Silver rating.
