The Logan Circle neighborhood, situated between the Dupont Circle and Shaw neighborhoods, offers walkability to three Metro stops (DuPont Circle, Shaw-Howard University, and U Street-Cardozo). The circle, which lies at the intersection of 13th Street, P Street, Rhode Island Avenue, and Vermont Avenues, is the last remaining residential circle in the District. The heart of this vibrant neighborhood is 14th Street, NW with its trendy shops and restaurants.

Logan Circle History

During the Civil War, present-day Logan Circle was home to Camp Barker, former barracks that became a safe haven for newly freed slaves from Virginia and Maryland. Originally known as Iowa Circle, Congress renamed it in 1930 to honor John A. Logan, the Civil War-era Commander of Tennessee Army. Logan Circle was also the home of civil rights author and activist Mary McLeod Bethune.

Located in a converted commercial building, Studio Theatre has hosted musicals, dramas and comedies since 1978. The Black Cat is a well-known live music venue showcasing local, national, and international musicians on two stages.
